Independent living at home care, Newark, Nottinghamshire

What shall I expect on my first visit?

One of our Senior Carers will visit you to ask you how you would like to be supported. They will ask you to fill in a questionnaire about yourself, your needs and preferences. They can fill this in with you if you think that would be helpful. We would really like to get to know about you as an individual and your interests. They will then draft a support plan which they will ask you to consider. Remember, nothing happens without your agreement, so you must tell us if you are not completely happy about anything.

Domestic care for the elderly

What kind of people do you look after?

We work with people from all walks of life, mostly (but not exclusively) aged 65 and above. We are happy to help in a wide range of ways, from people who just need a weekly visit to help with domestic tasks through to people who need several visits a day. The aim is to help you to live at home with as much independence as possible so that you can maintain the best possible quality of life.

Can you help with medications?

Yes, we can prompt or administer most medication. We can collect your prescriptions if you have given your surgery or pharmacy consent for us to do so. We are also able to support with any nutritional needs, including PEG feeding.

What if my needs change?

We will review your support plan with you every six months or more frequently if you wish. Please let us know if your wishes or needs change in the interim and we should be able to alter your package straight away.

What are the charges?

This depends on the length of your calls. Please contact John Garnett for further details on 07906 115755.

Who will come at each call?

If you only need a small number of calls, you will have two or three regular carers so you can quickly get to know each of them and develop a routine. If you need four calls a day you will need to have eight regular carers. However, since there are currently only eight of us in the team you will soon get to know us all.

Do you provide end-of-life care?

Yes. All members of the team have end-of-life and palliative care experience of this so we are able to support clients who wish to end their days in their own home. We have taken on several NHS Continuing Care packages where clients have requested our service.

How do I pay?

You will normally be invoiced at the end of each calendar month. You can choose to receive your invoice by email, post, or by hand. If you are funded by NHS Continuing Care, we will invoice them directly. You can decide whether to by pay by BACS transfer, cheque or cash.

Which geographical area do you cover?

We visit clients in Newark and its surrounding areas, within a radius of about ten miles.

Please contact the registered manager, John Garnett, to discuss your care needs.
